Chinese manufacturers make some of the most sophisticated products in the world.
CNC machined parts with tolerances measured in microns. Custom electronics assemblies tested to international standards. Precision packaging manufactured to food safety specifications. Sheet metal fabricated to exact drawings. Marble and stone cut to project specifications.
The quality is there. The capacity is there. The pricing is competitive.
The challenge — for most Chinese exporters — is being found by the right international buyers at the right moment.
For years the answer was Alibaba, trade shows, and cold outreach. Those channels still work. But something has changed in how international buyers research suppliers.
A procurement manager in Germany, a product designer in the United States, an engineer in Australia — they are increasingly starting their supplier search not on Alibaba but on Google. And now, more and more, on ChatGPT.
They type a question and expect a direct answer.
“Which Chinese manufacturers of custom aluminium enclosures are reliable for export?”
“What is a good CNC machining company in China for small batch prototype orders?”
“Who are trusted suppliers of food grade packaging from China?”
ChatGPT gives them a specific answer. A company name. A reason why. A link to verify.
The companies appearing in those answers are getting enquiries from motivated international buyers who have already decided they want to work with a Chinese supplier. They just need to find the right one.
At SEO Offer Hunters we help Chinese exporters become the company that international buyers find.
There is a pattern we see repeatedly when we analyse the online presence of Chinese manufacturers.
The factory is excellent. The products are high quality. The website exists — usually in English — and lists the products and services offered.
But when a buyer in Europe or North America searches Google for the type of product or service that factory provides — the website does not appear anywhere on page one.
And when that same buyer asks ChatGPT for a recommendation — the factory is not mentioned at all.
The buyers who could become long-term clients never know the factory exists. They find a competitor — often one with a less capable operation — simply because that competitor invested in being found online.
This is the gap between operational excellence and digital visibility. It is the most common gap we see in Chinese export businesses — and it is completely fixable.
Anuradha Tyagi, founder of SEO Offer Hunters, works with Chinese manufacturers and trading companies who want to close this gap:
Chinese exporters often underestimate how much of the international buyer journey now happens online before any contact is made. A buyer in Germany or the United States may spend two to three weeks researching suppliers on Google and now on ChatGPT before they send a single enquiry. If your business is not appearing during that research phase — you are not even in the consideration set.
Understanding this changes everything about how you approach digital marketing.
Stage 1 — They search by product category
A buyer who needs custom sheet metal parts will search Google for things like:
“sheet metal fabrication manufacturer China”
“custom sheet metal parts supplier”
“precision sheet metal China export”
At this stage they are comparing multiple suppliers. The companies ranking on page one of Google for these terms get visited. The ones on page two rarely do.
Stage 2 — They ask AI for a recommendation
Increasingly the same buyer will then open ChatGPT and ask:
“Which Chinese sheet metal manufacturers are reliable for export to the US?”
“What should I look for in a Chinese manufacturing partner for custom parts?”
ChatGPT names specific companies it considers credible based on what it has read across the internet. The companies it names get a warm, pre-qualified enquiry.
Stage 3 — They verify on the website
Once a company name appears in Google or in an AI recommendation — the buyer visits the website to verify. This is where the website content, case studies, certifications, and quality signals convert a curious visitor into an active enquiry.
Most Chinese exporters are only visible at Stage 3 — when the buyer already has a specific company name. The buyers who are still searching in Stage 1 and Stage 2 never find them.
We build visibility at all three stages.
We optimise your English-language website to appear when international buyers search for your products and services on Google.
This involves identifying the exact search terms buyers in your target markets — the US, UK, Germany, Australia, Canada, the Netherlands — use when looking for your type of product.
Then we optimise your existing pages and create new content that answers those searches directly and in detail. Product category pages, industry application pages, quality and certification information — all structured the way Google needs to rank them.
We also address the technical side — page speed, mobile performance, indexing, and structured data — so there are no technical barriers stopping Google from finding and ranking your pages.
GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimisation.
It is the practice of building your company’s presence online so that AI platforms — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overview, and Gemini — recommend you by name when international buyers ask for suppliers in your category.
For Chinese exporters this is particularly valuable because the buyers asking AI for supplier recommendations have already decided they want to work with a Chinese factory. They are looking for the right one. An AI recommendation at this moment is one of the most powerful trust signals available.
We build the content depth, authority signals, and citation presence that AI platforms need to confidently recommend your business.
Chinese manufacturers face a specific challenge with Western buyers that goes beyond search visibility — trust.
Buyers in Europe and North America who have never visited your factory, never met your team, and cannot easily verify your quality standards in person need something online that builds that trust before they send an enquiry.
The content we create does this specifically:
Detailed product pages that explain your capabilities, materials, tolerances, and quality standards in the way Western engineers and procurement managers expect to read them.
Industry application content showing exactly which sectors your products serve and how they have been used in real projects.
Quality and certification pages that make your ISO certificates, factory audits, and compliance documentation clearly visible and easy to reference.
Case study content showing specific examples of export projects — industries served, volumes handled, delivery timelines, and quality outcomes.
This content serves two purposes — it gives Google and AI more to index and cite, and it gives buyers the information they need to trust your business before making contact.
AI platforms and Google both trust businesses more when they appear in multiple credible places across the web.
For Chinese exporters targeting Western markets this means building a presence on international industry directories, trade publications, sector-specific platforms, and global business databases that buyers and AI platforms consider credible.
We identify the specific platforms relevant to your industry and export markets — and build your consistent, accurate presence across them so that when AI reads about your business it finds a coherent, well-referenced company with genuine international presence.
We have experience building Google and AI search visibility for Chinese manufacturers and trading companies across a wide range of industries and product categories.
Manufacturing and industrial — CNC machined parts, sheet metal fabrication, precision components, custom enclosures, industrial equipment, machinery, and tooling.
Electronics and technology — PCB assemblies, custom electronics manufacturing, LED products, power supplies, and electronic components.
Building and construction materials — marble, granite, tiles, stone products, flooring, glass, and architectural materials.
Packaging — food grade packaging, thermoform containers, kraft and paper packaging, industrial packaging, and custom print packaging.
Textiles and apparel — garments, fabrics, technical textiles, and accessories for export.
Consumer goods — any category where Chinese manufacturers supply Western retailers, distributors, and private label brands.
If your industry is not listed here — contact us and we will tell you honestly whether we can help and what the opportunity looks like.
The search behaviour and AI tool usage of buyers varies between countries. A buyer in Germany researches differently from one in the United States or Australia.
We build visibility strategies specific to the markets you are targeting — not a single approach applied everywhere.
United States — the largest market for Chinese export goods. High Google and ChatGPT usage among procurement teams. Strong preference for detailed technical content and clear certification documentation.
United Kingdom — significant B2B import market with strong reliance on both Google search and increasingly on AI tools for supplier research.
Germany and the European Union — technically sophisticated buyers with high standards for product documentation. Strong growth in AI search tool adoption.
Australia — one of the highest AI tool adoption rates globally. Buyers frequently use ChatGPT alongside Google when researching Chinese suppliers.
Canada and the Netherlands — strong trading relationships with China across multiple product categories. Growing AI search adoption among business buyers.
We focus on the specific countries most valuable to your export business and build visibility in the search terms and AI platforms those buyers use most.
Alibaba is an excellent channel for buyers who are already on the platform searching for suppliers. But a growing number of international buyers start their research on Google or ChatGPT before they visit any marketplace. If your business only appears on Alibaba — you are invisible to buyers during the research phase when they are forming their shortlist. Google and AI visibility puts you in front of those buyers before they even reach a marketplace.
Having an English-language website is necessary but not sufficient for Google to rank it. The content needs to be structured around the specific search terms international buyers use, the technical architecture needs to be correct, and the page needs enough depth and authority signals for Google to consider it worth ranking. Many Chinese exporter websites we audit are in English but contain very thin content that does not answer the questions buyers are actually searching for. We address all of these issues.
Yes. This is specifically what our GEO service is designed to do. We build the content structure, authority presence, and citation signals that ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other AI platforms need to confidently recommend your business when buyers ask for suppliers in your product category. We test monthly whether you are appearing in AI recommendations and report exactly what we find.
Google SEO for international buyer searches typically shows measurable ranking improvements within three to six months depending on the competitiveness of your product category and target markets. GEO and AI search visibility often shows results faster — within 60 to 90 days — because very few Chinese exporters have optimised for AI search yet, meaning the competition for AI citations is relatively low compared to Google rankings.
Yes. We work with both manufacturers who export directly and trading companies that source and export on behalf of multiple factories. The approach is similar — building visibility for the product categories and markets you serve — though the content strategy differs slightly depending on whether you are positioning as a manufacturer or a trading partner.
To begin we need a clear understanding of your main products or product categories, the countries you want to export to or expand into, access to your website backend or the ability to work with your web team, and Google Search Console and Analytics access if they are already set up. We start with a free visibility audit covering both Google and AI search before we propose any specific work.
Yes. Our AI blog automation service publishes SEO-optimised content consistently to your website — technical articles, product guides, industry application content, and export market insights — all written in natural English and structured for both Google rankings and AI citation. Consistent publishing is one of the strongest signals both Google and AI platforms use when evaluating whether a business is a credible and active source of information.
No cost. No commitment. Just an honest picture of where you stand and what is possible.
